Medstrom to host webinar for healthcare professionals about caring for plus-size patients
Specialist hospital bed manufacturer Medstrom is hosting a free webinar in June about how the healthcare industry can deliver dignified care to plus-size patients.
It follows the success of Medstrom’s first webinar, which took place in February, as the provider continues its webinar series to provide a space for thought-provoking discussions. The series encourages the exchange of evidence-based research and practical experiences amongst healthcare professionals and their peers.
Aimed at decision-makers within the NHS, the upcoming webinar – ‘Delivering dignified care for plus-size patients‘ – will explain the challenges faced by hospitals, carers, and patients. The event will take place on 9th June, 14:00-15:15, with interested attendees invited to register for free here.
The webinar, as with others in the series, will provide a space for thought-provoking discussions and the exchange of evidence-based research and practical experiences amongst healthcare professionals and their peers.
Guest speakers will include Dr Natasha Larmie, a GP with over 20 years of medical experience, who will discuss her personal story and how this affects her approach to the care of plus-size patients.
Tracey Carr, who works as an advocate for better healthcare for plus-size patients, will be speaking from the patient’s perspective giving her personal experience as a receiver of care. As well as developing seminars on this topic for a wide range of medical establishments, Tracey helps to deliver training in the moving and handling of plus size patients.
NHS consultant surgeon, Dr Shaw Somers, who presented Channel 4’s The Food Hospital, will discuss the challenges that healthcare professionals and hospitals may encounter striving to achieve dignified care for patients.
Medstrom is a UK manufacturer of specialist hospital beds and the only independent provider of bed management services to the NHS, managing over 25 per cent of the UK’s acute bed and mattress fleet.
The firm, which recently unveiled a new brand, website and direction, continues to develop close working relationships with manufacturers across Europe and the US.
