Sunrise Medical’s Vigo Head Drive named ‘New Product of the Year’ at Scandinavian trade fair
Wheelchair manufacturer Sunrise Medical has announced that the Switch-It Vigo Head Drive was recently awarded the prestigious ‘New Product of the Year’at the Scandinavian Health & Rehab Messe 2023 in Denmark.
Health & Rehab, which is held in Copenhagen, Denmark, is the leading Scandinavian trade fair for assistive and welfare technology. Around 6,000 professionals within the health care field and around 200 exhibitors from more than six countries participate.
Out of 26 nominated products from 25 companies, Sunrise Medical emerged as the winner in this highly competitive category.
The selection process involved an impartial committee of judges comprising representatives from various fields, including healthcare, municipalities, design, innovation, education, and user groups. These experts evaluated the registered products on the first day of the fair. The criteria for winning the “New Product of the Year” award included novelty value, useful features, enhanced quality of life for individual users, and positive impact on the daily lives of users, caregivers, and therapists.
The Vigo Head Drive stood out among the entries, impressing the judges with its innovative design and functionality.
A spokesperson for Sunrise Medical commented about the nomination: “The Vigo Head Drive presents a sleek and discreet design, resembling a standard headset. This design destigmatizes the device, making it appear just like any other headset. Not only does it offer practical functionality, such as the ability to listen to music, but it also transforms the user’s head into an intuitive joystick. Furthermore, there is a potential for further development, including the option to calibrate it with other welfare technology devices”.
