NRS First Time Family Carer Guide

Coinciding with the launch of its new charity partnership with Carers Trust, NRS Healthcare has released a new guide to help support new unpaid carers with valuable advice, guidance and information.

The national provider of community equipment services and products recently announced its pledge to raise a minimum of £10,000 over the next 12 months for the national carers charity, with plans to work with Carers Trust’s local Network Partners to improve local services.

Alongside the commitment to help raise funds, NRS Healthcare has created a First-Time Family Carer Guide, aiming to provide valuable advice and information to anyone taking on a new, unpaid caring responsibility.

According to Carers UK, approximate 6.5million adults are carers, with 6,000 people take on a caring responsibility every day, equating to over two million people each year.

Stating it is aware of the much-needed support unpaid carers need when they first start their caring journey, NRS Healthcare says the guide will help new carers know what expect in their new role and advise on how to care for loved ones with dignity.

In addition, the guide includes useful resources, including which charities and organisations offer different types of support, an explanation of what the Care Act 2014 means for carers, as well as individuals and communities that unpaid carers can connect with online to share experiences.

Available to download for free, the new guide comes as a major NHS survey of 50,800 unpaid carers found the carers were at increased risk of struggling with numerous pressures related to caring, impacting significantly on many carers’ quality of life and both mental and physical health.
