Lifestyle & Mobility electric vans
Mobility retailer Lifestyle & Mobility has taken delivery of its first fully electric van after opting to undertake several eco-friendly initiatives.

The retailer recently took delivery of its first fully electric van, one of two fully electric vans that it had on order.

Darren Macey, Business Development Manager at Lifestyle & Mobility, commented: “Like most, we were worried about the number of miles these vans could achieve. The VW ID Buzz has a surprisingly large load space and has a decent range. It has been a great choice for our around-town service engineers.”

While the retailer will continue to monitor the van’s range and convenience, it hopes to eventually roll these out as more of its current van fleet leases come up for renewal.

Darren added: “As responsible people and businesses we all need to start looking at how we impact the environment.

“Lifestyle & Mobility have been looking at ways we can reduce our carbon footprint. I’m pleased to say we have been making responsible steps forward over the last few years. We recently have made extra moves to try and reduce our carbon footprint that bit further.”

The firm recently rolled out iPads to all members of its service team to ensure that the business moves over to a fully paperless process and system. It now has a system in place where all service work, pre-delivery inspections, and repair sheets are carried out on the iPad.

A digital copy is then sent to  customers instantly unless a customer requests a hard copy. This has massively reduced the amount of paper and printing used, says Darren.

The business has also been making changes to non-customer facing areas, including installing PIR sensors, to help reduce the business’s overall carbon footprint and reduce running costs.

Darren adds: “All mobility products are electric, so you could argue that our industry has been leading the way for years now. We shall continue to look at way we can reduce our carbon footprint, if we all do our bit, hopefully we can have a positive impact for future generations to come.”

Lifestyle and Mobility was founded in 2002 by Ron Sverdloff and is now managed by Managing Director Aaron Sverdloff. As well as its new Lifestyle store in Basildon, Essex, the retailer also has showrooms in Bournemouth, Harlow, Southend and Welwyn Garden City.

Earlier this year the retailer announced the launch of Nexus Rehab, a new brand with a focus on complex rehabilitation for end users at home and in clinics, based at Lifestyle & Mobility’s accessible showroom in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire.
