Lifestyle and Mobility showroom in Basildon

The new flagship store of Lifestyle & Mobility has been officially opened in Basildon, Essex, with Paralympian Anne Wafula Strike MBE invited as its guest of honour to cut the ribbon.

Anne, who is the first wheelchair racer from Sub-Saharan Africa to compete at the Paralympics and a well-known inspirational speaker, took plenty of time to chat to customers at the launch.

The store also had another reason to celebrate – its 21st birthday, and to celebrate there was plenty of food, drink, and big discounts on offer, as well as a free raffle to win a brand-new scooter.

Going by the name ‘Lifestyle’, the name of the new state-of-the-art store reflects its role as selling a wider range of products besides mobility equipment.

On Lifestyle’s second floor, visitors will find a ‘Lifestyle & Home’ section which stocks a range of luxurious and ergonomic furniture, from armchairs to double beds.

One lucky customer won a mobility scooter in the raffle.

Highlights include eco-friendly profiling mattresses made with recycled ocean plastics, and a demonstration lounge set-up offering birds’ eye views over the central concourse.

Lifestyle & Mobility has stocked electric bikes for some time and it has taken the next step at the new showroom, offering paddleboards from up-and-coming company Tidal Rave.

As technology advances, the store hinted that many more exciting and unexpected products will enter the line-up at Lifestyle.

Prescriptive mobility product offerings are showcased at the new showroom, with powerchairs for all needs and budgets available for visitors to try out, and expert advice on hand from its highly trained staff.

The Basildon store also offers some of Nexus Rehab’s range. Nexus is a new brand company established by Lifestyle & Mobility to provide a dedicated and specialist service for customers with complex rehabilitation needs.

Darren Macey, Business Development Manager for Lifestyle & Mobility, commented to THIIS: “We are extremely proud of what we have managed to accomplish in a six-week turnaround. This was only made possible by the dedication of great staff, we are blessed to have such a great team throughout the group.

“The Grand Opening couldn’t have gone better. ITV News turned up and local radio, and it was a real celebration of 21 years in business. To have Anne Walfula Strike MBE come down and cut the ribbon was a real honour.”

Lifestyle and Mobility was founded in 2002 by Ron Sverdloff and is now managed by Managing Director Aaron Sverdloff. As well as Lifestyle in Basildon, it has other stores in Bournemouth, Harlow, Southend and Welwyn Garden City.
