According to the wheelchair and seating solutions specialist, high numbers of healthcare practitioners gained valuable insight into Etac R82’s award-winning solutions at the 2019 Posture Mobility Group (PMG) Conference.

Held at The International Centre, Telford, the PMG annual conference provided education, a product exhibition and networking opportunities for professionals working in the field of posture and wheeled mobility.

Throughout the event, delegates were keen to find out more about Etac R82’s popular adult and paediatric manual wheelchairs, seating systems and pressure care solutions.

Additionally, Etac’s Star air cell cushions delivered a particular highlight, following the success of Jo McConnell’s (OT and Etac Education Manager) conference and seminar presentation.

Jo commented: “PMG was a very positive show for Etac R82 with significant interest in our adult and paediatric products, particularly Star cushions. My pressure management presentation in the main auditorium focused on the unique differences with Star and why these air cell cushions are clinically proven. I highlighted the advanced stability achievable with Starlock for posture readjustment and their facilitation of complete pressure off load to allow tissue healing.

“Many delegates joined us on our stand to witness the Star range in action and to learn effective application for individual client needs. They were also keen to gain details of our free seating workshops.”

Demonstrations of Etac’s Ability Based Seating concept were equally as popular due to the attendance of Marika Tornqvist, Etac Global Product Manager for Manual Wheelchairs.

Based at Etac’s global headquarters in Sweden, Marika demonstrated how this unique approach to fully adjustable wheelchair design promotes enablement and activity. Marika explained why the Etac Cross 5 and Prio lead the market in Scandinavia and why NHS Wheelchair Services can benefit from choosing these highly adaptable wheelchairs.

The diversity of content on Etac’s stand was enhanced by the presence of Newlife, the Disabled Children’s Charity.

R82 supplies paediatric buggies to Newlife for its Emergency Equipment Loan Service to children who are at significant risk of injury or in urgent need because of shortened life expectancy. Representatives from the charity explained this unique service to delegates and also highlighted the charity’s equipment grant scheme.

As its official charity partner, Etac R82 is currently fundraising in support of Newlife. Part of its initiative recently included a £2,000 donation generated by Etac R82 employee Mark Travers who cycled the equivalent height of mount Everest non-stop in 22 hours.
