Trulife gets set to expand mobility equipment provision with acquisition of Simplymed
Mobility equipment manufacturer Trulife has announced that it has acquired Simplymed, a supplier of walking aids and therapy equipment to the NHS, local authorities, community equipment providers and retailers in the UK.
Simplymed was founded in 2009 and has since grown from strength to strength, gaining a reputation for quality and service within the UK market.
Trulife (UK) is a global business with over 60 years’ experience as a manufacturer of walking aids and orthotic devices, and a distributor of other medical devices in the orthotics and breast care sectors. The Group’s HQ is located in Dublin, while its R&D, manufacturing and marketing activities take place in its wholly owned subsidiary companies in the UK and Ireland.
Most recently ProCNC, a specialist engineered solutions manufacturer, was bought by the Group four years ago. This acquisition has extended the group’s capabilities and product divisions with the establishment of Trulife Engineered Solutions.
In the immediate short term, Simplymed will continue to trade as normal, with the eventual intention to combine the business with Trulife.
A spokesperson for Trulife commented: “We will work with customers to ensure a smooth transition and uninterrupted supply of product. Simplymed management and key personnel will remain with the business for as long as needed to ensure a smooth transition.
“The acquisition is an exciting opportunity. We will continue to offer both Trulife and Simplymed ranges of walking aids. This offers greater flexibility and choice to customers.
“It also means greater resilience within our supply chain and operations, and a more sustainable business for the future, which is critical at this time of global uncertainty.”
Trulife will continue to manufacture walking aids in the UK at its Sheffield facility, which bear the “Made in Britain” marque.
The Simplymed operations in the current warehouse facility Wigan will be transferred to Sheffield in due course to streamline operations.
