Scottish mobility retailer Thistle Help raised over £900 for Ayrshire Hospice recently by holding a coffee morning and prize draw at its Irvine showroom.

Friday 13th October was the annual Go Purple day, where Ayrshire schools, businesses and community groups come together to raise money for Ayrshire Hospice, a local charity which looks after terminally ill patients.

Customers, friends and family attended Thistle Help’s showroom, as well as staff from Ayrshire Hospice team.

The retailer has been getting involved with Go Purple since 2018 as it wanted to help raise money for Ayrshire Hospice who, it says, provide a great service in Ayrshire.

Laura Hays, Director at Thistle Help, commented that the event offers a great way to bring people together while supporting a fantastic organisation. She said: “We love participating in this yearly event as Ayrshire Hospice is a charity close to our hearts having lost parents to cancer in 2018.

“The first couple of years we got involved in Go Purple, we nominated staff to get gunged, myself being one of them!

“After Covid restrictions eased, we decided to have a coffee morning last year, as it was a way of bringing people together. It was such a great success, and we raised a fantastic amount of money for Ayrshire Hospice, so much so that we decided to have another coffee morning this year.

“The work that Ayrshire Hospice does is wonderful and we want to support them in any way we can. It was great seeing the Go Purple team visit us on the day and our team loved getting involved.”

The retailer also held a prize draw on the day with a great selection of prizes donated by local businesses as well as from family and friends of staff.

Laura added: “We are hoping the event gets bigger and better each year so that we can continue to keep raising money for this wonderful cause.”
