charity golf event david russell

David Russell, founder of THIIS Magazine, has created a unique golf challenge in an effort to raise money for charity and is inviting members of the mobility sector to take a swing at it.

Highlighting that the pandemic has “put paid to the usual charity golf day”, David has created a new team event where golfers simply send in their scorecard and pay the entrance fee of just £10 a player.

Consisting of teams of four in any combination of men & woman and a 90 per cent handicap with a maximum of 24 for men and 36 for ladies, the challenge can be played on any course at any time until 13 September 2021.

The Rotary Charity Golf Challenge will raise funds for the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice and Carers UK.

“We have raised over £20,000 over the years for the children’s hospice through an annual golf day and dinner which is impossible to hold at the moment,” explained David.

“Rotary has just entered a 12-month partnership with Carers UK and so that’s why we are supporting both charities with this new event.

“There are a number of people in the industry that I’ve played golf with over the years and it would be fantastic if they would like to get involved.”

Prizes for the top four teams are:

1st place – A team prize of 10 per cent of all entry fees collected
2nd place – A team prize of 7.5 per cent of all entry fees collected
3rd place – A team prize of 5 per cent of all entry fees collected
4th place – A team prize of 2.5 per cent of all entry fees collected

David says that Rotary will arrange for winning teams to be able to buy goods from their own Pro Shop.
