Mark Ormrod is an ex-royal Marine, athlete, and motivational speaker who has achieved numerous accolades, including three Invictus Games medals. He will be sharing his story of recovery from war injury to success on the sporting field.

Entrepreneurs Matthew and Cristian from Adapt Ability recently made a successful appearance on Dragons’ Den. The duo impressed The Dragons and won backing for their life changing Omeo product. Visit the Speaker Session stage to hear the story behind the intimidating pitching process and what’s next for the young company.

Lee Manning will be sharing the inside story of what it takes to represent your county internationally, and how the organisation’s ‘Inspire a generation’ programme is helping more people to play wheelchair basketball across the UK. Visitors will want to listen to any advice carefully, as they’ll have the opportunity to shoot some hoops themselves at a dedicated basketball zone at the event.

“We are thrilled to be welcoming such a range of interesting and knowledgeable figures to The Big Event this year” said organiser Katie Clare. “As well as these new and fascinating speakers, we will also be welcoming back many familiar faces to The Big Event, including many of our own Motability Scheme experts, and Helen Dolphin MBE who will be our host throughout the event.”

Although May’s event is the only chance to catch these Speaker Sessions in person, those who are unable to attend can watch the sessions live both days and on demand after online.  Online viewers will also have the opportunity to submit questions and access exclusive interviews and film footage from the day.

The Big Event promises to be even bigger and better than ever before, with more than 140 cars, Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles and adaptations on display. There will be hundreds of vehicle dealers and Scheme experts ready to answer your questions. Following The Big Event, four more Motability Scheme events are taking place across the UK this year, including in Belfast (24 June), Exeter (22 July), Harrogate (12 August) and Edinburgh (15-16 September).

All Motability Scheme events are free to attend, and visitors will have the opportunity to test drive adapted vehicles and speak to industry experts about mobility solutions.
