TGA’s WHILL Model C, which the company describes as stylish, easy to manoeuvre and has “cutting-edge” transportability, has been awarded the ‘Best of the Best’ Red Dot Design Award 2018.

This is the fifth award the WHILL C has achieved, with other accolades including a CES 2018 Innovation Award, an If Design Award, an International Design Excellence Award and Japan’s Good Design Award.

Established in 1955, The Red Dot Award is one of the most sought-after design awards in the world which recognises outstanding, innovative designs. Over 6,000 product applications from more than 59 countries were submitted this year and assessed by a panel of independent jurors.

These experts awarded a Red Dot to products with high design quality and submissions deemed the most ground-breaking received the ‘Best of the Best’ classification. WHILL Model C achieved this accolade within the healthcare category.

The success of Japanese-developed WHILL Model C within these award programmes is testament to its exceptional design and ability to change peoples’ lives, says TGA.

Exclusively supplied by TGA in the UK, WHILL Model C can be dismantled into three lightweight components for easy transportation and its ‘Omni’ wheels provide a tight turning circle for versatility indoors and outdoors. Others features include: touch-sensitive ‘mouse style’ steering, remote control App and streamlined aesthetics.

Daniel Stone, Managing Director at TGA, commented: “Once again this latest award highlights how WHILL Model C has successfully challenged mobility convention. No other product is able to deliver such a positive and supportive experience for greater self-esteem.

“As a category-defining product, WHILL Model C has been developed with the wheelchair user fully in mind. It is a solution designed to allow people to achieve their full potential whilst delivering confidence through contemporary aesthetics.

“WHILL Model C is truly a game-changer and its developers fully deserve this latest accolade. We are proud to provide such a world-leading, user-centric product and as our motto states…where there’s a WHILL – there’s a winner!”
