MyPermobil voice app

Wheelchair manufacturer Permobil has introduced a new Voice Assistant feature to its MyPermobil app, enabling wheelchair users to access key wheelchair information verbally while at home or on the go.

According to Permobil, the app is the only one of its kind from a wheelchair manufacturer that responds to a user’s voice and empowers them with more knowledge and less work.

Programmed to work with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, MyPermobil empowers users to do more and go further with these real-time wheelchair insights.

The app communicates directly with the user’s power wheelchair through an integrated SIM card to provide the most up-to-date information on individual battery range estimates, distance travelled, and power seating activity.

When the GPS on the app is enabled it shows places visited if user stayed more than 30 minutes, while in-app tutorials help users get the most out of MyPermobil.

All of Permobil’s models come “connect-ready”, and once the end user downloads the app and activates MyPermobil, the information is automatically transferred into the smartphone app for easy access.

Chuck Witkowski, President of Permobil Americas commented: “MyPermobil is the most comprehensive end user wheelchair app available, and it does not require the end user’s data or Wi-Fi once activated.”

Connected wheelchair technology has been standard on all Permobil M and F-Series Corpus and Corpus VS wheelchairs for years, the manufacturer has stated.

Ginger Walls, Director of Clinical and Technical Education at Permobil added: “Many Permobil users have conditions that impact their gross motor function to reach for their smartphone, and fine motor function to tap the screen.

“For users lacking this dexterity to use their MyPermobil app with their hands, they can now take advantage of the many in-app functions with their voice.”

A global provider in advanced medical technology, Permobil’s innovative healthcare solutions most recently included a new ‘state-of-the-art’ battery and charger system which offers 25 per cent more capacity than its previous battery, offering improved all-round reliability and fewer battery replacements.
