Mobility retailer Ableworld has announced profit increases as it gets set to launch a “birthday sale” ahead of its 20th anniversary in July.

A spokesperson for the retailer has announced that that although sales were three per cent down for their financial year ending August 2020, its overall profits across all the companies in the group are up by 26.4 per cent.

Mike Williams, Managing Director for Ableworld stated: “Our strategy for continuing to open throughout the pandemic was certainly correct, not only from the moral point of view of supporting the vulnerable in our society but also from a financial point of view.

“Our staff have been fantastic and in return, wherever possible we have supported them. A lot of staff in the start of the pandemic were furloughed and those that weren’t we have looked after them in many different ways, including extra holidays and financially.

“Our franchises were also supported with a free month’s management service fee along with annual rebates on their fees.

“No staff have been made redundant. In fact it has been the opposite. We have, and are, increasing staff numbers and bonuses. Staff have seen overall virtually £200,000 extra in their salaries!”

Mike commented that the past nine months has shown a sales increase of over 20 per cent on last year along with profit increases, and he believes “the best is yet to come”.

Ableworld’s 20th sale launches on Monday 14th June, with celebrations being held across the company to celebrate the 20-year milestone.

The sale will include product offers alongside increased marketing efforts and in-store festivities.

A spokesperson commented: “Ableworld are confident that their big Birthday Sale will bring new customers in store, and in turn be a success and sales will further increase for the year.“
