Osprey Healthcare 'Flyta-Active'Active Wheelchair / Show chair

Following feedback from active wheelchair users, Osprey Healthcare is preparing to launch the Flyta Active, a new concept for the shower and bathing market that aims to merge function with fashion.

Combining the functionality of a standard shower chair with the appearance and comfort of a high-end wheelchair, Osprey Healthcare says the new design is targeted at active wheelchair users who have had to settle for standard shower chair commodes in the past that were merely functional.

Speaking to THIIS, Paul King, Director of Osprey Healthcare, commented: “We received quite a bit of feedback from Active wheelchair users we’ve met on visits out in the community and at exhibitions who specifically asked for something that looks more like the Active chairs they use on a day-to-day basis. Something less ‘clinical’ and more dynamic, and we really believe the Flyta Active fits the bill.”

Initially launching two standard seat widths of 17 inches and 19 inches, the new active wheelchair/shower chair hybrid will come with a 15-year warranty on the rust-resistant frame and a two-year parts warranty,

Highlighting that UK and international demand is already high, Paul continued: “We believe the Flyta Active meets a need that nobody else in the industry has met yet, thousands of Active wheelchairs are sold each day and this product will complement each one of them.

“It’s a unique product which we’re sure will be well received by the active wheelchair user community.  We’re sure our dealers will see its potential and add it to their existing range.”

Having been in development for the past six to nine months, Paul confirmed that the new Flyta Active is currently at the prototype stage and is set to be available for retailers in Late August / early September.

In addition, the Flyta Active has been designed to be compatible with the Geberit Aqua Clean and Geberit Mera toilets.
