InnoScot Health pledges its support for NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme
InnoScot Health has announced that it is part of a forward-thinking group of collaborative organisations who are supporting Scottish innovators taking part in this year’s NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme (CEP).
The second successive year of the programme being open to Scottish healthcare professionals has seen 12 innovation-minded NHS staff selected from across Scotland to take part after a competitive assessment process.
They will now be given focused learning on how to develop the necessary insight and know-how to successfully develop their ideas for the benefit of patients, the public, and the wider NHS.
Staff from NHS Scotland partner InnoScot Health welcomed the CEP’s Scottish cohort at a launch event on 28th February, alongside The Digital Health & Care Innovation Centre (DHI), NHS Education for Scotland (NES), Scottish Enterprise, and the Scottish Health and Industry Partnership Group (SHIP).
The cohort started out on their year-long development journey earlier this month and the coordination group will continue to aid and encourage their innovation ambitions, helping them to identify channels of support while providing networking and collaboration opportunities.
Head of Project Management at InnoScot Health, Gillian Henderson said: “We are delighted to be part of this coordinated programme that invites Scottish health service entrepreneurs to maximise their learning for significant innovation benefits that can be adopted back into the NHS.
“It was great to meet the participants and gain a deeper understanding of what exciting achievements are now within their grasp. Likewise, our aim will be to make a valuable contribution to their success by lending our own innovation expertise and support alongside other key organisations.
“The programme is a fantastic opportunity, and it is vital that hugely talented clinical entrepreneurs continue to be identified and invested in at this incredibly important time of NHS recovery and transformation.”
The CEP, delivered by Anglia Ruskin University (ARU), is part of the NHS Accelerated Access Collaborative (AAC) which “brings together industry, government, regulators, patients, and the NHS to remove barriers and accelerate the introduction of new ground-breaking treatments and diagnostics which have the potential to transform care.”
In October 2022, InnoScot Health celebrated its 20th anniversary with a renewed focus on empowering NHS Scotland staff to unlock the healthcare solutions of the future.
