EXCLUSIVE: Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare launches its lightest ever splitable mobility scooter
Mobility equipment supplier Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare has announced the launch of its lightest ever splitable mobility scooter – the AstroLite.
Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare states that it has been on a mission in 2023 to break some of its “lightest ever” records, with the Manual Fold+ and the Airfold Pro achieving this in their class.
Adam Naylor, Head of Regional Dealers at Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare, commented: “If you speak to any scooter dealer, they’ll all tell you, its all about the weight and they’re right, it really is massively important to the end user.
“So it’s fantastic that our R&D team have really focused on this and as a result we’ve launched some record breaking lightweight scooters this summer.
“The new AstroLite is another great example of this and it’s not only ultra lightweight, there’s lots of other features to shout about, including it splits easier than any of our previous splitable scooters and its all round suspension provides a really comfortable ride.”
The AstroLight scooter is lightweight with the heaviest part weighing only 9.9kg and its front impact bar acts as a carry handle enabling the scooter to be easily lifted in and out of car boots, making it ideal for transporting in vehicles. It features a padded seat and backrest and its front and rear suspension provide a smooth and comfortable ride.
Dallas Newsham, International Category Manager at Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare, added: “In recent times we’ve focused heavily on our folding scooter range and I’m really pleased with the results however there are still many customers who prefer the more traditional scooter that splits for transportation.
“The challenge was to develop a new model that would offer something different, some key innovative features that would represent a true step up from our previous scooters in its class, I believe with the AstroLite, we’ve done exactly that.”
The new 4mph scooter is available with two lightweight lithium (Panasonic cells) battery options 10.3Ah or 17.2Ah, providing max range options of 6.8 miles* and 11.4 miles*. It features on or off board charging, automatic electromagnetic brakes and a 360° swivel seat to help the user dismount from the scooter.
It has solid puncture proof tyres, flip up removable armrests and provides an exceptionally small turning circle of 125cm (49”)
