Custom seating specialist’s new product looks to fill seating gap for wider market
Aiming to deliver a combination of high-quality and affordability to equipment loan stores, care homes and acute care environments, Seating Matters has launched a new chair to the market, the Milano.
A specialist in producing bespoke seating for end-users, the Milano is the company’s bid to reach a wider range of patients whilst incorporating the pressure management, postural support, tilt-in-space and high-level adjustability elements it is known for.
Discussing the design of the chair, Martina Tierney, Occupational Therapist and Clinical Director of Seating Matters, commented: “I wanted to create a high quality, universal chair for patients, that didn’t compromise on my principles of pressure management, postural support and simple adjustment. The Milano does just that.”
Designed for those with low to medium support needs and users who may still maintain a degree of mobility, the Milano has already seen success in a number of care facilities across the world, according to Martin Tierney, Director of Seating Matters.
“We have a close relationship with many clinicians, academics and patients around the world,” he said.
“We brought the Milano to a select group of these partners over the past several months and we’re pleased to announce that it has already been ordered in high volumes for hospitals and equipment loan stores in four countries. The response has been amazing.”
The universal, durable chair will help equipment loan stores to save money for councils and health trusts says the company, boasting a number of features important to care environments.
“There is a real need for high quality, tilt in space seating that can easily adjust to a person’s size,” continued Martin.
“This simplifies the process for getting specialist seating for patients in hospitals and for loan stores getting equipment into the community. The MilanoM can be adjusted without tools on-site to fit multiple patient sizes and when that person no longer uses it, it’s innovative design allows it to be easily cleaned, re-issued and recycled.”
In addition, when it is on standard stock with equipment providers, the Milano will be available on a rapid lead time, allowing stores to serve patients faster and with reduced delays.
“I have been working in the field of specialist seating for most of my clinical career. I’m excited to know that with the MilanoTM, patients can get access to high-quality clinical seating, with excellent features and at an excellent price,” added Martina.
The company will now reveal the new product to venues in the coming weeks, offering patients and clinicians an opportunity to get hands-on with the chair and speak to the designers, as well as training and educational events.
Seating Matters design and manufacture a range of clinical, therapeutic seating for adults and children who in acute care, at home or in long term care.
