Closomat webinar
Assisted bathing specialist Closomat is continuing to strengthen its educational offering for occupational therapists with a lunchtime webinar later this month focused around how healthcare professionals can assist plus size clients.

The last session of 2022, taking place on Wednesday 19th October at noon, is ‘Plus-size clients and wash and dry toilets’.

Scheduled to run for half an hour, the webinar will explore what obesity is and why is it important to take a ‘person first’ approach to language. It will look at how being plus-sized can affect occupational performance and discuss the importance of anthropometrics. Considerations as to what equipment can be used to help facilitate toileting will also be discussed.

Closomat, the UKs only specialist manufacturer of Wash and Dry Toilets, developed the online learning series for occupational therapists back in April and it has been growing in popularity ever since.

Titled “Learn at Lunch” the aim of these informative 30-minute sessions is enable OTs to enhance their practise and support their professional development, by focusing on a range of “hot topics” in the area of assisted toileting.

Robin Tuffley, Closomat Marketing Manager, commented: “We’ve been running our very successful webinar programme since the very first Covid lockdown, and the huge thirst for knowledge amongst OTs, particularly in the area of toileting, is still there.

“After consulting with OTs, we recognised that there was a role for punchier sessions, to complement the more in-depth webinars, which could be attended during a lunch hour, for example.”

The sessions, run in conjunction with The OT Service, will address what is being talked about by OTs right now to ensure they are of relevance. They will comprise of an initial pre-recorded presentation followed by a live “Q and A” between senior OTs from the OT Service. Sessions will also feature product demonstrations, where applicable.

‘Plus-size clients and wash and dry toilets’ takes place at 12-noon on 19th October 2022. Interested participants must click here to book their place.

Previous CPD events hosted by the bathing specialist include sessions on the impact of neurological traum on bathroom activity, accessible home adaptations for stroke survivors, accessible bathroom design to support independence and how to ensure dignity and independence when working with bariatric clients.
