BREAKING: Third acquisition of 2018 expands bariatric rental coverage in South for DHG
Direct Healthcare Group (DHG), a leading provider of bariatric rental solutions through its Nightingale bariatric division, has completed the acquisition of Southampton-based Poshchair Medical.
The acquisition of Poshchair Medical is the latest in a string of acquisitions since the Group was formed in April 2016, following a management buy-out of Direct Healthcare Services, with the company now completing five acquisitions over the past two years.
In June 2016, the Group acquired Wrexham-based Nightingale, a provider of bariatric equipment and services to a range of healthcare sectors, expanding its reach into the bariatric rental market. The following year, the DHG acquired Kirton in May and in 2018, acquired both Karomed’s Transflo cushion brand in February and Qbitus in May.
Formed in 2005, Poshchair Medical supply bariatric equipment, seating, bed and lifting solutions for rental, covering particularly the South of England.
Graham Ewart, CEO of DHG, highlighted that the acquisition will help increase the Group’s rental coverage, enabling it to provide a national rental offering.
“The synergies that currently sit between Direct Healthcare Group’s Nightingale bariatric rental division and Poshchair Medical’s portfolio offering are evident,” commented Graham.
“Further, the acquisition also provides us with the ideal opportunity to expand our geographical scope, allowing us to truly cover the entirety of the UK and significantly reduce rental lead times in the South. Clearly, with both Poshchair Medical and Nightingale, we are the UK’s market leader in bariatric rentals.”
Commenting on the purchase of Poshchair Medical, directors Mark and Sally Grinyer said: “We’re really excited for Poshchair Medical’s future following this acquisition by Direct Healthcare Group. It will be business as usual for Poshchair, however, we will now be backed with greater resources, more product offering and faster response times.”
