Alerta Medical introduces new anti-entrapment bed rail bumper to its range
Medical equipment manufacturer Alerta Medical has introduced bed rail bumpers which have been designed to reduce the risk of bed rail entrapment and help safeguard at-risk users.
The Alerta Medical Anti-Entrapment Bumpers benefit from being connected with a mesh base which sits on the mattress platform of the bed underneath the mattress, forming a safety net to help prevent limb entrapment.
Net inserts are centred between the bed rails to improve visibility and comfort to the user and designed to velcro onto the side rails, providing protection for users in bed. The bumpers are suitable for profiling beds with two side rails 200cm in length
Ian Lindberg, CEO of Alerta Medical, commented to THIIS: “Alerta understand the importance of de-risking bed rail entrapment, so we’ve designed these products to be universal, much easier to fit, and with PU material, making them much safer for patient health, and benefiting from qualities such as being a breathable, stretchable, waterproof, antibacterial material that is soft, comfortable and doesn’t harden or crack.”
Alerta Medical’s entire bed rail bumper range is phthalate-free, made with breathable polyurethane fabric (PU) instead of PVC due to risks of phthalates with PVC. According to Alerta Medical, a huge advantage of PU is that it is safer, higher quality and serves a longer lifetime.
Based in Irvine in Scotland, Alerta Medical is a designer and manufacturer of pressure relief and fall prevention equipment for the healthcare market, delivering solutions to proactively maximise user safety and comfort.
At the helm is Founder and CEO Ian Lindberg, who launched the company in 2016 after building nearly 20 years of experience, insights and contacts in the social care sector.
The manufacturer also recently launched its new Four-Wheel Aluminium Foldable Rollator into the UK market which promises to be easy to transport and manoeuvre.
