Abacus to discuss accessible posture and bathing at Kidz to Adultz Wales and West seminar
Accessible baths manufacturer Abacus Specialist Bathroom Solutions will host a seminar on posture and bathing at Kidz to Adultz Wales and West on 7th July.
Kidz to Adultz Wales and West will take place on Thursday 7th July 2022, between 9.30am – 4.30pm at International Convention Centre Wales in Newport, South Wales.
The seminar ‘Managing bathing posture to support engagement and safety’ will be presented by Kate Sheehan, Occupational Therapist (OT) in Seminar Room 2 at 1pm.
According to Abacus, bathing can be important to people for a variety of different reasons, whether it be to benefit relaxation, sleep, play, or relationships, but the practicalities of making that a reality, particularly for someone with postural needs, can seem daunting and challenging.
The educational session, which counts towards CPD hours for delegates, looks to consider the theory behind bathing posture, linked to functional engagement, safety and long-term health and well-being.
Practical product demonstrations will be used to reinforce the seminar and reflect on opportunities to meet clinical and functional challenges.
The Abacus team will be available on stand G2 to discuss individual client challenges both within the session and on stand. There will also be live demonstrations of the future-proofed Gemini 2000 bath. The latest, larger and future-proofed Gemini bath, with unique dual lift functionality, won the prestigious Excellence in Caring Award at the OT Show, alongside the Aries 2000 and Scorpio.

The sessions are also proving to be popular at exhibitions, according to the supplier. Last year, Abacus presented a seminar on assisted bathing at the Occupational Therapy Adaptation Conference (OTAC), and then another in February on posture and bathing at Kidz to Adultz.
