Abacus CPD bathing seminar to focus on reducing long-term care costs at Kidz Middle
Accessible bathroom supplier Abacus Specialist Bathroom Solutions will be presenting a CPD seminar at the upcoming Kidz to Adultz Middle event focused on care sustainability through specialist bathing.
Adam Ferry, Occupational Therapist, will present the seminar ‘Proportionate spending – using adaptations to reduce long term costs’ from 2-3pm.
Kidz to Adultz Middle takes places on Thursday 16th March 2023, from 9:30am – 4:30pm, at Coventry Building Society Arena, Coventry. CV6 6AQ. Free entry and parking.
Adam’s session will look to challenge the issue of cost, reflecting on the financial impact of equipment and adaptations. We focus specifically on bathing and consider whether the installation of a specialist bath can justifiably be used to save money through care reduction and facilitation of health and well-being.
Participants will get the chance to reflect on pre-conceived ideas about cost, review the use of adaptations and equipment to reduce long-term spending and consider the impact of supporting long-term health and well-being on the care system.
Following its Gemini 2000 bath being awarded the ‘Excellence in Caring’ Award at the OT Show, Abacus won ‘Best on-stand education’ at the 2022 event.
The latest CPD at Kidz Middle will continue with this standard of educational quality alongside live bath demonstrations by friendly Regional Assessment Managers on stand B2.
Healthcare professionals, as well as families and young people with disabilities will be able to test and compare the hi-lo Gemini bath whilst discussing appropriate solutions for individual bathing challenges.
There will also be guidance available on bath funding through Disabled Facilities Grants and the Abacus Mascot, Trevor the Turtle, will be on hand for younger visitors to cuddle.
