Developer and service provider of powered wheelchairs WHILL has received the 2022 Mobility Management Product Award for its WHILL Model C2 Chair.

The Mobility Product Award programme, launched the US in 2019, honours outstanding product and technology development by complex rehab technology, mobility and accessibility manufacturers.

Attracting a wide variety of entries, 2022 is the fourth the successful year of recognition programme.

The WHILL C2 was recognised in the ‘Power Wheelchairs for Travel’ category because of its light weight, manoeuvrability, smart technology, and ability to disassemble quickly for transport.

Jonathan Jennings, Vice President of Marketing for WHILL, commented: “We are excited to receive the recognition from Mobility Management as we continue to push the boundaries of developing flexible power wheelchair technology to improve the quality of life for our customers.”

With its compact size, patented omni-wheels, remote app control, and advanced battery technology, the WHILL Model C2 allows users to explore the world effortlessly. The device offers manoeuvrability and portability, which is critical to reducing barriers when traveling with mobility needs.

The Model C2 is simple to operate, makes tight turns, and has the ability to adjust the max speed for added safety.

Laurie Watanabe, Mobility Management Executive Editor, said: “This year’s judges were impressed not only by the functionality of the winning entries but also by the innovation and evolution.

“It’s wonderful to see engineers and manufacturers working so hard to anticipate the future needs and wants of professionals with seating, mobility and accessibility needs.”

Headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, WHILL offers short-distance mobility products and services in over 20 countries and regions globally. Along with designing and selling short-distance mobility vehicles, WHILL provides Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) solutions, offering autonomous and manual transportation services that make public spaces more accessible.

WHILL’s innovative technologies often attract attention from award programmes, with the firm’s foldable Model F mobility vehicle recently winning the 2022 iF Design Award.
