Kardinal Independent Living Scooter event raises money for children's hospice

Undeterred by the weather, a mobility retailer has helped raise funds for a children’s hospice by hosting its ‘Scoot along the Prom’ event, bringing customers, local radio and the town’s mayor together to ride scooters for the charity.

Hosted by Worthing-based Kardinal Independent Living in early May, the event gathered a number of the retailer’s customers together to ride along the Worthing promenade to raise money for Chestnut Tree House.

Also in attendance was the Mayor of Worthing, who led the procession of scooters, whilst local radio station More Radio also took part in the proceedings.

Kristian Binns, Digital Marketing Assistant for Kardinal Independent Living, said: “The weather didn’t stop our event from being a success, raising roughly £200 overall.

“This event will be back for next year, and will be bigger than ever.”

The money raised for Chestnut Tree House, a children’s hospice for East and West Sussex, Brighton and Hove and South East Hampshire, will help fund some of the care services it provides for 300 children and young adults from 0-19 years of age with progressive life-shortening conditions.

In addition to raising money for the charity, the event was published on Facebook, receiving local attention from Facebook users in Worthing, as well as the Worthing Mayor sharing the pictures from the event with his audience.

Established in 2007 by Helen, Carl and Connor Hancorn, Kardinal Independent living now operates two mobility showrooms in West Sussex, as well as a warehouse and an online store.

The event was published on Facebook and has received attention from local Facebook users, as well as the Worthing Mayor sharing the pictures from the event.

Building local exposure within the community, the mobility business says it has also been busy offering mobility scooter hire to a number of summer shows taking place in the region, including the South of England Show, Cowpie Country Show and the Hickstead Horse Show.
