Medequip’s telecare offering, Medequip Connect, has released an educational video explaining its raft of services available for customers.

Hosted by Carol Clement, Operations Manager at Medequip Connect’s Rawtenstall Headquarters, the video explores the variety of services on offer, as well as providing insight into the day-to-day running of the company.

In the video, Carol explains that Medequip Connect monitors local authority and housing association contracts, as well as individual people.

She adds that the Medequip Connect Response Service offers customers peace of mind. This specialist responder service is offered in Cumbria, Suffolk and Oxfordshire.

Upon the activation of a personal alarm, Medequip mobile responders are dispatched to the user’s home to assist in the emergency. The mobile responders carry a range of equipment to help lift a customer safely from the floor if they’ve had a fall.

Carol goes on to discuss Medequip Connect’s wellbeing checks, which can be carried out in-person or over the phone if a person has just left hospital, a family member is unable to check on the individual, or to prompt the individual to take their medication. According to Medequip, its telephone wellbeing service has been vital during the COVID-19 pandemic to check in on customers, at a time where face-to-face contact has been reduced to prevent transmission of the virus.

In addition, the video points out that as Medequip is becoming more digitally enabled, it can avoid crisis situations through artificial intelligence (AI) and data solutions. This data can highlight where additional care and support can be offered in a bid to avoid hospital admissions and the need for an individual to move into a care facility.

Carol underlines that technology enabled care (TEC) is enabling traditional services to move from being reactive to preventative and by expanding the circle of care to the user, this provides desirable outcomes for both customers and telecare providers.

The video finishes by discussing how Medequip Connect can provide care at home through its broad range of TEC services.

Medequip recently began its five-year Integrated Community Equipment Loan Services in Sheffield (ICELSS) on behalf of Sheffield CCG and Sheffield City Council. The ICES will see Medequip supply and maintain the equipment necessary to help people live independently in their own homes for longer.
