The Alzheimer’s Society is to launch an Accelerator Programme at the end of the month, to support the development of products and services to help people living with dementia.

They are looking for applications from teams or individuals at any stage of the product development journey, from a great idea that needs testing through to proven products that need a push to maximise their reach. Applications from underrepresented groups, it states, are particularly welcome.

There is £100,000 of funding available, together with mentoring, peer-to-peer learning and opportunities for co-creation with people who have the condition.

Engineers, designers, developers, innovators, academics, entrepreneurs, or anyone with a good idea can apply. Ideas can include any sort of product or service that makes an everyday task easier for a person living with dementia.

In return the programme offers its ‘Accelerator Partners’ up to £100K of funding alongside expert innovation and dementia support for 12 months.  They will also benefit from peer-to-peer learning with the charity’s Innovation Collective as well as be given opportunities to learn from people living with dementia through co-creation.

Join the Accelerator Webinar Summer Series in July and August to learn more about the programme, for help and support on making an application, and to hear from previous Accelerator Partners on how the programme has helped them.

Interested participants can register for a free webinar to help with their application. These include one webinar taking place today from 5.30-8.30pm on the topic ‘Planning your project, budget and your business‘. Another webinar will take place on 15th August from 5.30-8.30pm on ‘How to pitch your idea‘.

Accelerator applications open on Wednesday 30th August 2023. Potential applicants can find out more by emailing innovation@alzheimers.org.uk
