Wheelfreedom appointment
Marcin Paszenda has joined Wheelfreedom as a Clinical Assessor

Surrey-based mobility and seating specialist, Wheelfreedom, has strengthened its prescriptive team with the appointment of Marcin Paszenda, who joins as a Clinical Assessor.

Giles Donald, Managing Director of Wheelfreedom,  recently welcomed Marcin to the team by saying, “In recent years the prescriptive side of our business has grown beyond expectations. Marcin’s appointment to the clinical assessment department represents an exciting continuation of that progress and adds strength in depth to what is already an impressive level of in-house clinical expertise”.

With over 20 years experience in physiotherapy, Marcin’s career path has taken in roles at BUPA, as a Clinical Lead Physiotherapist and at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, as a Senior Wheelchair Therapist, and brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role.

Marcin, an HCPC registered physiotherapist with a particular interest in 24 hour postural management, said, “What attracted me to Wheelfreedom was that its core values of care, integrity and compassion are firmly coupled with an absolute dedication to provide service users with the highest levels of clinical assessment and assistive technology solutions. I’m thrilled to be part of the team and look forward to making a positive impact on the company’s services and customers”.

Marcin will be working closely with occupational therapists, health clinicians, nurses, case managers and carers to provide assessments, develop new clinical pathways and operational tools as well as presenting innovative mobility and seating options.

Giles added, “Some time ago we saw that a significant demand for assessments and prescriptions wasn’t matched by the requisite clinical expertise or product options coming from the mobility retailer sector. We sought to plug that gap and have been very successful in bolstering our expertise and assistive technology offering. Our customer base arises largely from the local area but many of our prescriptive enquiries come from far and wide, which is really pleasing”.

Wheelfreedom’s Chessington showroom and assessment centre has proved more than equal to the demand but the team’s product and clinical expertise married with an impartial care-focused approach is what makes Wheelfreedom the leading mobility and seating specialist in the region.

Speaking of Marcin’s appointment and the team, Giles said, “We are always on the lookout for talented, experienced individuals. Marcin comes to us with excellent credentials and the necessary senior level experience in wheelchair therapy, gained at top-tier organisations. He’s also perfectly aligned with our values and impartial, user-needs approach which makes him a perfect fit for Wheelfreedom”.

Since its move to Surrey in 2020, Wheelfreedom has grown both its prescriptive and non-prescriptive offerings significantly. The showroom and assessment facilities in Chessington offer an ideal environment for users to have assessments and explore a range of product options and innovations. The company also holds regular CPD courses for healthcare professionals in mobility and seating solutions.
