New AAT GB bespoke cushion service helping healthcare workers deliver 24/7 postural support
Mobility equipment supplier AAT GB has announced a new 24/7 service that enables healthcare professionals to order bespoke postural support cushions for their clients.
The service builds on the firm’s specialised manufacturing capability, which already produces standard cushions in shapes that vary from a thin arm support to a full-sized mattress.
AAT GB promise to cost-effectively produce its Stabilo vacuum posture cushions, in any shape or size, to a client’s individual order, should none of its standard cushions quite meet the specific posture support, correction or alignment issues of the user.
The cushions are constructed from advanced neoprene, which, coupled with vacuum technology, means that they can be formed exactly as needed – even bent, curved – and the precise contours for each client maintained.
Vacuum technology extracts the air from the cushion, precisely moulding and fixing the exact configuration of the posture support without any pressure points and the degree of firmness minutely set.
Because of the way the shape is fixed, AAT GB states that there is no need for the frequent re-plumping inevitable with conventional cushions as vacuum technology enables Stabilo cushions to hold their shape for weeks at a time.
Should any adjustment be needed to maintain comfort, this can be executed and controlled by the carer or care team.
There is no additional cost if/when re-shaping is needed, AAT GB states, just a few seconds of time.
Further, the advanced neoprene material can be wiped clean and contains no latex, is non-combustible and breathable.
Peter Wingrave, Director of AAT GB, commented: “Every person, and how their illness or impairment affects them, is unique.
“Comfort is fundamental to their ability to cope with daily life. It impacts on their- and their carer(s)’ physical and emotional health and wellbeing.
“Now, with our bespoke service, occupational therapists and physiotherapists have the ability to deliver that comfort, cost-effectively.”
Full details of the Stabilo concept and how it works, and the opportunity to arrange a free assessment, can be found on AAT’s website.
In August 2023, AATB GB launched a raft of seating accessories to support children and adults with severe and complex disabilities and which all function with its Gravity Chair foam positioning system.
