Mobility Matters Aryshire

Ayrshire-based Mobility Matters has had an application to convert a vacant yoga studio at an Irvine Industrial Estate into a new mobility scooter storage and distribution facility approved, providing more space for customers to try before they buy.

The family-run Scottish mobility business headed up by Robert Frew, who inherited the retailer from his father, covers Ayrshire and surrounding counties, supplying a wide variety of mobility scooters, along with wheelchairs, daily living aids and rise and recliners.

Currently operating three mobility shops, the new centre in Irvine is set to bring three new jobs to the town and expand the company’s stock capacity.

Speaking with the Irvine Times, Robert said: “We feel that being away from the town centre will help customers with parking and be able to test out their purchases before buying without disturbance to other shoppers. We are aware some people feel embarrassed about their disability and we can offer more of a personal service.

“We currently have customers on our books that stay in the Irvine area and we feel it will benefit them if we opened up a shop in the area to save the customer any extra expenses of travelling.”

The storage and distribution centre will be located at MacAdam Place, South Newmoor Industrial Estate, Irvine.
