Medequip continues to expand telehealth capabilities with acquisition of County Careline Services
Integrated community services provider Medequip Assistive Technology has announced the acquisition of the County Careline Services, expanding its operations in the Technology Enabled Care (TEC) sector.
A nationally based organisation providing services to over 10,000 people nationwide, County Careline Services provides telecare assistance and support to older, disabled or vulnerable people, helping them to remain safe and independent in their own homes.
Covering a number of counties, County Careline Services supplies and installs a range of telecare equipment such as telecare alarms and keysafe boxes, alongside providing services including alarm monitoring and response.
According to Medequip, the acquisition of County Careline secures the future for service users, as well as for almost 40 people employed by the company at four service centres in the North West, Cumbria, Suffolk and Oxfordshire.
Following the acquisition, Medequip’s latest TEC service will be known as Medequip Connect.
“Alongside our recent move into the wheelchair services market, this acquisition strengthens our foothold in telehealth, expanding our footprint in the UK and complementing our core community equipment business,” stated Peter Gaunt, Operations & Commercial Controller for Medequip.
“The analogue to digital revolution is changing the world of telecare, with opportunities for more technologically advanced services as we are already seeing in Australia and New Zealand. Medequip intends to be in the vanguard here in the UK, developing innovative ways of keeping people safe and independent for longer in their own homes.”
A broad term referring to a number of different assistive tech services and devices, TEC services provide remote care enabling people to maintain their independence and includes telehealth, telecare, telemedicine and telecoaching.
The acquisition comes following Medequip’s recent TEC Quality accreditation for a new NAEP module, certifying its Heathrow operation’s commitment to providing safe and compliant TEC services.
In addition to expanding its presence and operations in the TEC sector, Medequip also hinted at potentially rolling out a Falls Prevention Service following the company’s success with its Wirral service.
