Invacare joins a prestigious list of sponsors in supporting the UK’s only mass-participation sports series dedicated to people with disabilities.

The Superhero Series powered by Marvel is a competitive family fun event where participants compete in and around Dorney Lake in Windsor.

The series holds two annual outdoor events per year; the Superhero Tri in the Summer and Winter Wonderwheels in the Winter, plus two ‘at home’ virtual events, giving as many people as possible the opportunity to participate.

This summer sees the Superhero Tri; a fully inclusive event, taking place on 17 August. The event organisers encourage participants to use any method of support required to complete their challenge.

Regardless of a participant’s disability, all ‘gadgets and gismos’ are welcomed on the all-inclusive course, from floats and boats to adaptive bikes and trikes.

With a huge emphasis on fun, participants can choose between flying solo or teaming up with caped ‘sidekicks’ (non-disabled family and friends) to take on the unique challenges with as much or as little time and support as they need.Marvel Superhero Series sporting event

Joining Team Invacare are a number of sporting celebrities including Hannah Cockroft, OBE and Nathan Maguire.

Mike Farrell, Managing Director at Invacare UK & Ireland commented: “At Invacare, we truly believe in our mission statement of “Making Life’s Experiences Possible”.

“Our new partnership with the Superhero Series organisation and the events they create are perfectly aligned to that mission and we look forward to being a part of these wonderful events for many years to come.”

The Superhero Series is founded and run by Paralympian, Sophia Warner, who has been involved in disability sport for more than 25 years. Speaking of her reasons for launching the series, Sophia says: “I know first-hand what a hugely positive impact sport can have on a person’s life.

“I believe everyone should have the chance to enjoy momentous and often life-changing sporting events. That’s why when I retired from professional sport, I created the Superhero Series – sporting events designed especially for people with disabilities.

“I’m thrilled to have Invacare on board as a key sponsor for the Superhero Series – having the support of such a well-established brand elevates the profile and importance of disability sport for the masses to a whole new level.”

Invacare recently announced new appointments as it seeks to expand its technical support and education departments.
