As people across the UK embrace virtual communication in the wake of lockdown measures, Closomat is planning to engage with OTs by hosting an educational webinar on toilet transfers.

Hosted by Kate Sheehan, the former chair of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists Specialist Section on Housing, the session aims to enhance OTs’ understanding of supporting transfers through adaptation and design.

It comes amid high costs to the NHS and social care treatment as a result of injuries related to falls and fractures. According to Closomat, falls cost the NHS over £400 million annually, whilst fragility fractures cost £1.1 billion social care.

The CPD Qualified webinar will cover various topics, including what OTs should cover during an assessment of a client’s transfer ability.

The course will also aim to provide virtual participants with a greater understanding of the tasks undertaken on the toilet, as well as information of relevant and up-to-date regulations, legislation and design guidance.

The session will take place on the 30th April, 2020 at 11:00am.

It will also include a Q&A between The OT Service’s Kate and Larry Beale, Product Specialist for Closomat.

Those interested can reserve their place by registering in advance.
