Beyond MobilityComplex rehabilitation technology provider Beyond Mobility is set to make an impact in the South West of England with its comprehensive range of prescriptive solutions.

Barry Reeve, Director of Beyond Mobility, says that his business is focusing on prescriptive solutions such as powerchairs and manual wheelchairs, along with power assist devices and seating and positioning solutions.

The aim of the business is to be recognised as an authority on these products, explains Barry, with in-depth knowledge and understanding of how to properly prescribe and maintain them to promote greater independence.

Barry has gained valuable knowledge and experience of the industry through working with many of the UK’s largest and best established mobility and rehabilitation equipment providers, including as Sales Representative for Permobil.

During his time at Permobil Barry continuously exceeded sales targets, and won an award for his sales performance.

Based in Cornwall, just outside of Plymouth, Beyond Mobility will offer products in Devon, Somerset, Dorset and Bristol. There is nobody based in the South-West who specialises in complex mobility provision, explains Barry.

“There are of course plenty of one-stop shops and traditional mobility providers who offer everything from grab handles to mobility scooters.

“During my time at Permobil, I realised that none of these retailers had the ability to independently configure a powerchair with alternative drive controls, or, programme the actuators on a standing chair like the F5 Corpus VS to maximise the performance of the chair.”

Running his own business is something Barry has wanted to do for a long time. He says: “I wanted to prove to myself that I could become the number one complex rehabilitation technology provider in the South West by having the freedom to manage my own business, without boundaries.”

Beyond Mobility currently only offers products from Permobil, which Barry believes has a “second to none” range in terms of performance, reliability, and functionality but he will consider other solutions to complement these depending on the user’s needs.

The business provides assessments and demonstrations at the user’s home, place of work, school or hospital, allowing it to better understand how its products will work within these settings. Beyond Mobility has no plans at present to sell its products online, with the website acting as a shopfront to drive leads and demonstration requests.
