TN Power Battery Megastore THIIS Magazine

Tewkesbury-based battery distributor Battery Megastore has announced it is introducing a new brand of lithium batteries to the mobility market which it says are around half the weight of its lead-acid counterpart.

Recently, the industry has seen a wave of new lithium-powered products enter the market, particularly in the folding scooter and folding powerchair segments where lithium batteries’ reduced weight has enabled lighter, more portable products ideal for a growing travel market.

Aiming to help meet the growing demand for lithium, Battery Megastore has confirmed it is now distributing the TN Power range of batteries.

Claiming its “100AH TN Power Lithium battery is the most affordable in Europe,” the Gloucestershire battery specialists states this more economic lithium option will help power the transition from lead-acid batteries in the market.

“While the traditional lead-acid will always have its place, they’ve been bogged down by two main issues: their weight and their vulnerability to sulfation when not taken care of extremely well,” explained Giles Briggs, Finance Director of Battery Megastore.

“We’ve known for a long time that lithium batteries have been the perfect solution for both of these issues and so many more but their cost has just been quite simply out of reach for a long time. We’re pleased to announce that that ends today.”

According to the Battery Megastore, the main advantage of lithium technology is its extensive life cycle rating when compared to its lead-acid counterparts.

In addition, Giles points out that the new range of batteries will not sulfate over time, a common problem with mobility scooters which often go unused over the winter and then fail to work when the weather improves.

“At around half the weight of their lead-acid counterparts, lithium-ion batteries proudly boast up to double the safe discharge rate with no risk of sulfation or other failures at lower voltages. It really is a no brainer,” he added.

The new TN Power range comes in 12ah, 24ah, 33ah, 54ah 84ah, 100ah and 110ah.

“Starting next week, our customers will receive the first wave of our existing lithium backorders, ushering in a new age in the affordable mobility market,” finished Giles.
