Access BDD in US MedTradeStairlift and homelift supplier Access BDD attended the recent Medtrade East event recently to launch its range of straight and curved stairlifts including the revolutionary Flow X curved stairlift into the American market.

Medtrade is the largest home medical equipment trade show and conference in the US and takes place twice a year. Medtrade East took place in October 2021 in Atlanta, Georgia, with the Medtrade West show set for April 4-6 2022 in Phoenix, Arizona.

Access BDD has had a presence in the Canadian market for two years and its appearance at Medtrade was the latest step in its planned international growth for 2021/2022.

Melissa Davies, Access BDD’s Head of Business Development for North America headed up the launch and was delighted with the reception they received as she explains: “We have been planning to launch into the US market for some time but the pandemic meant we had to delay things.

“However, it was certainly worth the wait as our product portfolio proved to be extremely popular with visitors to the show and the positive feedback and quality of enquiries we received exceeded all our expectations.

“Having the opportunity to engage with so many new potential dealers and home medical suppliers and to be able to demonstrate the straight and curved stairlifts on show was invaluable to us as we look to establish Access BDD in the US.

“I think it is fair to say that the Flow X was a standout product at the show and we are looking forward to following up the conversations we had on the stand in the coming weeks”.

The Flow X curved stairlift features Advanced Swivel and Levelling technology (ASL) which enables the stairlift to rotate and swivel during travel, ensuring that the stairlift is always in the safest and most comfortable position.

ASL technology allows the footrest to remain independent from the drive unit and swivel with the seat; this allows the user to sit comfortably as they do not have to bend their knees as much, which helps with better posture.

There are four rail options available: standard drop nose, vertical ‘short-start’ drop nose, horizontal overrun and parking curve, and unlike some models, there are no mechanical parts on show. The Flow X has a maximum weight capacity of 125kg (275lbs) and can be fitted on staircases as narrow as 610mm (24”).

Andrew Warbrick, Managing Director, Access BDD commented: “The whole team has worked tirelessly to make our launch into the US market a success and I am delighted to hear how well it went and how popular our stairlifts were with visitors to the stand.

“I am sure the coming months are going to be very exciting for Melissa and the rest of the team as we enter this new territory.”
