Access BDD gets ready to unveil its new HomeGlide straight stairlift at Rehacare
Stairlift and homelift supplier Access BDD will be debuting the recently launched HomeGlide straight stairlift along with its Flow X curved stairlift at Rehacare in Dusseldorf, Germany.
Building on the astounding success of the original HomeGlide, the new model has been redefined to meet the needs of modern-day users. An increased seat depth and reduced back-to-knee length allows for a better postural position, while luxurious padding ensures a firm and comfortable seat.
Featuring warm grey upholstery, the new design combines with a wider seat and increased maximum weight capacity of 136-160kg, meaning that the new HomeGlide will be suitable for more users than before.
For increased safety and peace of mind for the user, the HomeGlide has several new safety features including an armrest detection system, a safety belt, and an emergency stop button to ensure it meets all the latest EN81-40 regulations.
For additional safety, the HomeGlide will automatically come to a stop should any obstacles be encountered by the special safety edges which are built into the drive unit. For use in more confined staircases and landing areas, the HomeGlide has a compact folding design while the remote-control handset enables it to be parked at either end of the staircase.
There is also an upgrade ‘Extra Pack’ option available which provides the user with a call device, auto swivel seat and linked powered footrest.

Complimenting the HomeGlide will be the Flow X, which was launched last year. The Flow X curved stairlift features Advanced Swivel and Levelling technology (ASL) which enables the stairlift to rotate and swivel during travel, ensuring that the stairlift is always in the safest and most comfortable position. ASL technology allows the footrest to remain independent from the drive unit and swivel with the seat; this allows the user to sit comfortably as they do not have to bend their knees as much, which helps with better posture.
There are four rail options available: standard drop nose, vertical ‘short-start’ drop nose, horizontal overrun and parking curve, and unlike some models, there are no mechanical parts on show. The Flow X has a maximum weight capacity of 125kg (275lbs) and can be fitted on staircases as narrow as 610mm (24″).
