The Wheelchair Alliance, an organisation which represents the voices of wheelchair users, will update the attendees about the action underway regarding the reclassification of the guidance for powered wheelchairs and mobility scooters in its upcoming webinar on 25 June 2025.

They will share how they work with wheelchair users, giving an example of how their voice is amplified to drive best practice in wheelchair provision.

The session titled ‘Invalid Carriages’ and Other Contentious Issues’ will take place from 11am-12pm, delivered by two of the Wheelchair Alliance’s founding members who are also voluntary directors of the CIC; Nick Goldup, CEO, and recently appointed Chair, Karen Pearce.

Nick has a wealth of experience as a director within the charity sector, including six years as director of care improvement at the MND Association plus five years at Whizz-Kidz.

Karen has over 30 years of NHS experience at clinical and managerial level, alongside seven years as director of care for the MND Association.

The Wheelchair Alliance has previously urged the Government to act on the update to the current guidance that would require disabled children to have driving licences and insurance for their powered wheelchairs.
