Oxford homecare provider Walfinch Oxford has welcomed a new initiative from Oxfordshire Council, which has been launched to provide a financial £200 bonus to 100 people who choose a new career in the county’s care industry.

With more than half a million people waiting to receive an adult social care assessment across the country in May 2022, demand for homecare services continues to outstrip supply. The council initiative provides an additional benefit to those considering a new career in care, as Kam Gill, Founder of Walfinch Oxford, explains:

“Since Walfinch Oxford launched in 2017, we have seen demand for flexible home-based care soar year on year.  As such my care team has expanded to almost 30 people, yet we continue to receive calls, every week, from more individuals seeking support. We are therefore always looking to expand our workforce so we can help as many people as possible. This initiative from the Council offers a welcome boost to those seeking a new career and supports organisations like us in recruiting new talent.

“Caring for people in their own homes is a privilege; it is a very fulfilling career, which has the added advantage of flexible hours; here at Walfinch this can be from just a few hours a week to full-time roles. My team love that they are entrusted by families to support their loved ones, not just with specialist or personal care, but helping people to live as independently as possible, enjoying pastimes, hobbies or giving them the confidence to go to appointments or errands. It really is a great opportunity to make a big difference in your community.”
