Vivid Care unveils comprehensive upgrades and design improvements to clinical seating range

A Yorkshire-based healthcare seating specialist Vivid Care has unveiled comprehensive upgrades to its popular Lento chair range, introducing advanced pressure care technology and enhanced functionality across its entire clinical seating range.
The refreshed range incorporates patented foam technology validated in clinical studies, alongside design improvements that make the popular chairs easier to adjust, safer to use, and more effective at preventing pressure-related complications.
Since launching the original Lento Care Chair in 2017, Vivid Care has helped thousands of people across the UK improve their quality of life through better seating.
The updated range builds on this nine-year track record with innovations developed through continuous feedback from occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and end users.
Tristan Hulbert, Managing Director at Vivid Care, said: “We firmly believe that being able to sit comfortably is a right, not a luxury.
“Comfort is the common theme that underpins all the benefits of our seating. With the updated Lento range at our fingertips, we’re confident that every scenario can be catered for and no seating need is overlooked.”
Vivid Care says the headline innovation across the updated range is the new Levitex Cradle Cushion, developed in partnership with sleep posture and pressure specialists Levitex Foams Ltd.
The cushion incorporates patented Levitex foam, a material that has been clinically validated in studies published in the Journal of Wound Care, says Vivid Care.
The Levitex Cradle Cushion doesn’t rely solely on a single foam, Vivid Care adds, it combines the patented Levitex foam with three additional foam grades, arranged in engineered layers to promote optimal pelvic alignment whilst maintaining superior pressure relief. This reduces both peak and mean interface pressure, and levels of comfort and relaxation when compared to memory and standard seating foams.
Vivid Care says the significant advantages of Levitex foam over traditional support surfaces has been proved by clinical studies as covered in its recent article ‘The Updated Lento Range: What’s Changed and Why It Matters’.
Beyond the cushion technology, Vivid Care says it has refined multiple aspects of the Lento chairs based on user feedback. Such as enhanced transfer compatibility, the redesigned chair base and armrest configuration brings transfer aids closer to the front of the chair, simplifying transfers for both users and care staff.
Other aspects refined include intuitive adjustment, the toolless adjustment system now includes measurement indicators, making it easier for multiple staff members to replicate optimal settings and document positioning accurately. And improved stability, new black castors feature brakes on all four wheels rather than just two, providing enhanced stability during transfers and care procedures.
Additionally, safety features including Integrated cable management systems with attachment points and routing channels keep power cables secure and out of the way, reducing trip hazards in care environments, and modern aesthetics achieving a sleeker finish with fewer seams and improved armrest comfort gives the chairs a contemporary look more suited to modern care facilities and home environments.
The Lento range now encompasses six different models, each designed for specific clinical requirements, including the Lento Care Chair, the original adjustable care chair; Little Lento, the paediatric version for younger users; the Lento Bari, the bariatric model with enhanced weight capacity; the Lento Neuro, a specialised design for neurological conditions; the Lento Mobile, a portable riser recliner for mobility between rooms, and the Lento Cove, an advanced postural support for complex spinal needs
All models now benefit from the Levitex cushion technology and design improvements, creating a comprehensive seating system that can adapt to changing needs throughout a user’s care journey.
The original Lento Care Chair distinguished itself in 2017 as the most adjustable care chair available, with its unique toolless adjustment system capable of accommodating any adult over 5′ 2″ (157cm). The seat system allows seat width, depth, height, and arm height to be adjusted without tools, a feature that has made it very popular amongst OTs.
Made in Britain to high healthcare standards, all Lento chairs come with a five-year frame warranty and are constructed with solid stainless-steel frames and high-quality mechanisms designed for the demands of intensive care environments.
For care providers managing residents with varying needs, the comprehensive nature of the updated Lento range offers particular advantages. The consistent adjustment system across all models means staff training transfers between chairs, whilst the enhanced durability and evidence-based pressure care technology can contribute to better outcomes and reduced complications, says Vivid Care.
Vivid Care states the Levitex cushion is particularly relevant for settings where pressure injury prevention is a priority. With pressure ulcers representing a significant challenge in both healthcare and social care settings, equipment that demonstrably reduces pressure indicators whilst maintaining comfort addresses a critical clinical need, it adds.
Tristian added: “We’ve been refining these chairs for nearly a decade based on feedback from the people who use them every day.
“This isn’t just about incremental improvements – it’s about maintaining our position at the cutting edge of care seating by listening to therapists, care staff, and most importantly, the people sitting in these chairs.”
For families and individuals requiring specialist seating, the updated Lento range provides access to clinical technologies, now packaged in equipment designed for everyday use in care and home environments, Vivid Care concludes.
Vivid Care also unveiled what it claims is the world’s most adjustable postural chair for people with severe scoliosis and complex spinal deformities.
