Vivid Care launches lie-flat positioning chair for the acute care pathway
Acute care seating specialist Vivid Care says that its new care chair fixes an issue that hospital treatment wards have been struggling with for years, creating a single-use chair for the entire acute care pathway with true lie-flat positioning.
The NHS seating supplier based in Wetherby, West Yorkshire has launched the QuickCare Pro Lie-Flat Chair, an acute care chair designed to move patients through day surgery, dialysis, oncology, and emergency department pathways without the need for transfers. Within just 36 hours of launch, Vivd Care says that five NHS trusts asked to try the chair on their wards, followed by a surge of appointment bookings.
The QuickCare Pro builds on learnings from NHS feedback that consistently flagged an ongoing issue; there was nothing in their lie-flat range that could adapt to the patient’s different positioning needs through the acute care pathway.
When moving patients between different areas of acute care like day surgery, dialysis, and haematology, the patient’s positioning needs change from to lying flat for a procedure, sitting in a recovery position, sitting upright for a meal, or taking blood samples. Transitioning the patient between from chair to stretcher and back adds manual handling risk and strain for staff, and takes up extra time and resource.
The QuickCare Pro has been designed to solve that problem with its versatility in positioning options. The Hi-Lo height adjustment runs from 470mm to 800mm, allowing staff to adjust height on the move, and a single electric handset moves the chair between sitting, true lie-flat, tilt-in-space, Fowler’s, shock and Trendelenburg positions, with four programmable presets.
The Multiflex armrests flip up, angle-adjust or remove entirely, making this a truly multifunctional chair that can be adapted to the positioning requirements for each setting.
Vivid Care says the response reflects an acute care seating market that has been underserved, with wards having had to adapt equipment to do job they weren’t originally designed for.

Vivid Care are currently running demonstrations across NHS trusts and are inviting acute care trusts and clinical teams to get in touch to arrange a trial.
The QuickCare Pro is available for hire as well as outright purchase and finance lease options, to suit each Trust’s budgeting requirements.
