Vivid Care launches innovative bedside chair that supports hospital patient recovery
After two years in the making, mobility equipment specialist Vivid.Care has launched an innovative bedside chair to solve endemic issues with current hospital ward seating.
The biggest product launch in Vivid Care’s history, the HiBack Bedside Chair brings together years of specialist seating knowledge and engineering expertise into one completely unique product, with nothing else like it on the market.
Through its expansion into the acute care sector, Vivid.Care says that it received overwhelming feedback from NHS clinicians about the unsuitability of bedside seating on hospitals wards, and the detrimental impact this was having on patient comfort and recovery times.
The issues with existing high-back chairs centred around lack of customisation, poor pressure relief, awkward adjustment mechanisms, staff strain, transfer issues, and overall patient discomfort.
On the strength of market feedback, Vivid.Care embarked on a major R&D project to create a new high back chair, working with engineers, designers and industry experts to inform and critique the design.
Over the two-year product development phase, each version was stress-tested and re-engineered, and trialled with different NHS Trusts until the desired end result was reached.
The Vivid Care R&D team have built a chair from first principles that fixes the issues faced by patients and staff, providing a next-generation seating solution for all hospital wards.

“The discomfort and pressure issues were causing patient deconditioning and having a direct impact on discharge times. The new bedside chair incorporates effortless height adjustment, superior levels of pressure care and patient ergonomics into one seating masterpiece.
