jerryrigeverything video stiltz homelift

A video about how to install a Stiltz Homelift in the USA by a popular American YouTuber has gone viral, being viewed more than three million times in just 36 hours and showcasing the power of video as a marketing channel.

Zack Nelson, better known as JerryRigEverything online, has built a loyal subscriber base for his technology reviews, with 3.9million signed up on his DIY YouTube channel.

His video ‘How to Install an Elevator in your LivingRoom!’ was published on July 22 and reached #11 on Trending, trumping some major news stories and competing with the announcement of the UK’s new Prime Minister the day before.

Zack, 31, had the Stiltz Homelift installed in the house he shares with his fiancee, Cambry Kaylor, who is a paraplegic. Cambry was an international equestrian vaulting star who suffered a spinal cord injury after falling from her horse in a training accident in 2005.

The couple were searching for a mobility solution that would enable Cambry to move safely and independently between floors, relieving Zack from having to carry her upstairs. They film the entire installation process of a Stiltz Trio Homelift – which is large enough to accommodate Cambry’s wheelchair in the video – combining tons of humour with tech insights about the lift.

Zack writes in the YouTube video preview: “Cambry and I put an Elevator IN OUR HOUSE!! And it is awesome. Fully electric, futuristic, and quiet. It turned out pretty cool.”

Once the Stiltz Homelift is in place, Cambry – who also lists herself as an occupational therapist on her Instagram page with over 30,000 followers – rides it for the first time and says: “I don’t even know how to describe it. It’s like I’m in a spaceship or submarine or something. It’s cool and looks awesome!”

Mark Blomfield commented: “Zack and Cambry obviously did their research on homelifts and reached out to us a few months ago. They purchased our top-of-the-range Trio model and Zack told us he was going to make a video of the installation with one of our authorised installers in Utah for his YouTube channel. Once we discovered how many subscribers he had, we couldn’t wait to see it. The video is absolutely brilliant and has to be the most viral video in the mobility and independent living industry in history!”

Yola Mealing, Head of Marketing at Stiltz Homelifts UK, added: “It’s fantastic for the Stiltz Homelift to be independently reviewed in this way by such a prominent US-based YouTube Influencer. It shows Stiltz Homelifts are proving as popular in the US as they are here in the UK, and with an increasingly younger audience. We hope the Trio makes a real difference to Cambry’s life and wish them all the best.”

The video reveals how much reach can be achieved by having the right person promote or share a video featuring a product. See THIIS’ guide to using video in the mobility industry, aimed at retailers and suppliers alike.
