VIDEO: Popular YouTuber Jerry Rig Everything launch ‘Not A Wheelchair’ mobility device
American Youtuber Zack Nelson, best known for his channel JerryRigEverything, and his wife Cambry Kaylor has launched a new company, Not a Wheelchair, for their new all-terrain mobility device called the Rig.
Boasting over 5.8 million subscribers of the video-sharing platform, Jerry Rig Everything is best known in the industry for his video, ‘how to install a Stiltz homelift,’ which has garnered over 22 million views to date.
A technological reviewer and DIY enthusiast, Zach used his engineering prowess to create a unique mobility device for his wife Cambry, a wheelchair user herself, back in 2019 by welding two electric bikes together to create an electric off-road wheelchair of sorts.
According to the pair, they have been working on developing and improving the initial design over the past year to create a new off-road mobility device which they describe as not a wheelchair but a ‘Rig’.
The device uses mostly bicycle parts, has a rear rack mounting system, big wheels and is functional on most surfaces – although not suitable for steep inclines.
Capable of travelling up to 12mph and up to 25-35 miles, the 5 ft long, 41-inch-high electric-powered vehicle has manual steering and manual brakes and comes available in a range of colours.
“Personally, I love my light blue Rig,” emphasises Cambry.
“We’ve put over one thousand miles on it and its taken me places I never in a million years thought I could go. Like on a hike to a waterfall in Hawaii or up the canyon on packed snow, which are all places I wouldn’t be able to go in my normal wheelchair.”
Currently only available across the pond, the device retails at a starting price of $4,750.00 (£3,731).
