Following the success of the AutoFold and Manual Fold scooters, Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare has announced a new addition to its range of folding scooters – the AutoFold Elite.

The AutoFold Elite will be available in early June and the manufacturer is convinced it will be a good seller for mobility retailers in the UK.

It builds on the success of Drive’s popular AutoFold scooter, which the firm says was its best-selling mobility scooter of 2018, 2019 and 2020 in its new mini teaser video.

Promising to be “feature-rich”, the AutoFold Elite was developed to enhance the end-user’s experience. It several new features including front and rear suspension, an LED front headlight, comfort Delta Bar operation, and a USB charging point.

Discussing the decision to launch its latest scooter, Adam Naylor, Head of Regional Dealers at Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare, commented: “When we launched the AutoFold Scooter in 2018, the immediate sales were much higher than expected, we couldn’t get the containers in quick enough to cater for the demand. Since then we’ve launched the Manual Fold that has also proved popular.

“With these two scooters we felt we had a solid foundation for our folding scooter range but it was clear there was an opportunity to develop a premium model. The AutoFold Elite ticks all the boxes and is available at the great price for such a feature rich product.”

The UK folding scooter market continues to grow, the manufacturer highlights, moving away from the more traditional pavement scooter that splits to fit in a car boot. The more compact nature of a folding scooter results in it fitting more easily into car boots, leaving additional space for other items such as shopping.

Simple remote-control folding operation is also preferred by many end-users, adds Drive, rather than assembling and disassembling the scooter before and after use.

Dallas Newsham, International Category Manager for Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare, explained that the latest mobility device was developed to meet the growing needs of end-users and technology advancements.

He said: “Listening to our customers and their users experience is very important to us at Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare and this new addition demonstrates how committed we are to further enhancing and evolving our products to meet the ever growing demands of user needs and technology advancements.

“This new scooter is a first in its class of remote auto-folding pavement scooters to feature shock absorbing front and rear suspension, designed to provide extra comfort for an exceptional ride.”

Drive has reported “impressive” pre-order levels and positive customer feedback on the AutoFold Elite, following an initial announcement.

“We just can’t wait to get these scooters into stock and out onto our retailers’ shop floors, I’m convinced they will be a good seller for them,” continued Adam.

Drive has produced a short video to accompany its other marketing activities as part of the supplier’s final push to launch this scooter on the run up to stock being available in early June.

The supplier has also produced an A0 poster that is free to stockists of the new scooter. Designed to catch the eye in the retailer’s stores, it helps highlight the features of the new scooter and encourages the customer to request an in-store demonstration.
