VIDEO: Dancing grannies get hearts racing to mark mobility retailer’s new store launch
Mobility dealer Mobility Care has expanded its operations into Nottinghamshire with its second store opening, celebrating the occasion with the assistance of a duo of energetic elderly performers.
Having first entered the industry with its original shop in Ilkeston in Derbyshire in 2015, Mobility Care has gone from strength to strength, using a combination of competitive pricing and creative marketing campaigns to gain a foothold in the market.
Recently, the retailer began running a successful social media competition, giving away brand-new mobility equipment to lucky winners and sharing the emotional prize handover moments with its growing Facebook community of over 2,250 engaged individuals.
Following its success in Derbyshire, the retailer has launched its new store in neighbouring county Nottinghamshire, opening the doors to its Bulwell store on the 22nd March 2019. The shop sells a range of reclining chairs, mobility scooters, stairlifts, as well as offering repair and servicing services.
In keeping with its unique approach to marketing, Mobility Care decided to attract the attention of local shoppers with the help of a pair of dancing grannies, with Mobility Care’s 29-year-old owner Aaron Johnson telling The Nottingham Post that he came up with the viral marketing idea 48 hours prior to opening the shop’s doors.
Discussing his decision to open the new store in Bulwell and his ambition for the store, Aaron told the Nottingham Post: “My slogan is we need to not just match prices, we beat them. We want to be as cheap as possible for people.
“We have been looking at Bulwell for about 12 months. We kept looking for the right location.
“As few shops did not materialise. We found a cracking shop in Banks Yard. The shop needed a full refit, and we turned it around in three weeks.
“With it being my stomping ground – I am Bulwell born and bred – it was a no brainer.”
Mobility Care is now looking to take on two part-time members of staff to help run the store alongside Aaron’s brother Chris, who will now manage the store.
