Mombility Care new store in Nottinghamshire Bulwell

Mobility dealer Mobility Care has expanded its operations into Nottinghamshire with its second store opening, celebrating the occasion with the assistance of a duo of energetic elderly performers.

Having first entered the industry with its original shop in Ilkeston in Derbyshire in 2015, Mobility Care has gone from strength to strength, using a combination of competitive pricing and creative marketing campaigns to gain a foothold in the market.

Recently, the retailer began running a successful social media competition, giving away brand-new mobility equipment to lucky winners and sharing the emotional prize handover moments with its growing Facebook community of over 2,250 engaged individuals.

Following its success in Derbyshire, the retailer has launched its new store in neighbouring county Nottinghamshire, opening the doors to its Bulwell store on the 22nd March 2019. The shop sells a range of reclining chairs, mobility scooters, stairlifts, as well as offering repair and servicing services.

In keeping with its unique approach to marketing, Mobility Care decided to attract the attention of local shoppers with the help of a pair of dancing grannies, with Mobility Care’s 29-year-old owner Aaron Johnson telling The Nottingham Post that he came up with the viral marketing idea 48 hours prior to opening the shop’s doors.

Proving age is nothing but a number, the pair danced to a range of songs including One Step Beyond by Madness, Low by Flo Rida and Turn Me On by Kevin Lyttle to the amusement and bemusement of Bulwell shoppers.

Posting videos of the performing pensioners on its social media page, the dance troupe not only attracted interested shoppers in the town on the day but also drummed up a staggering amount of engagement on the mobility shop’s popular Facebook page, with the videos enjoying over 215,000 combined views.

According to the company, the launch day proved to be a success, generating a buzz amongst the local community, completing some repair and servicing work from customers, as well as selling its first mobility scooter from the new location.

Discussing his decision to open the new store in Bulwell and his ambition for the store, Aaron told the Nottingham Post: “My slogan is we need to not just match prices, we beat them. We want to be as cheap as possible for people.

“We have been looking at Bulwell for about 12 months. We kept looking for the right location.

“As few shops did not materialise. We found a cracking shop in Banks Yard. The shop needed a full refit, and we turned it around in three weeks.

“With it being my stomping ground – I am Bulwell born and bred – it was a no brainer.”

Mobility Care is now looking to take on two part-time members of staff to help run the store alongside Aaron’s brother Chris, who will now manage the store.
