Unique Mobility event in DartmoorUnique Mobility, a supplier of mobility and independent living products and services in the south west, brought the region’s mobility community recently for a special all-terrain mobility event at the National Trust’s Castle Drogo, showcasing a wide range of off-road and mixed-terrain solutions from leading global brands.

The event on 11th June was designed to give individuals, carers, and healthcare professionals the chance to see and try all-terrain mobility equipment in a real-world setting — all in one place, with expert advice from the Unique Mobility team supported by representatives from Sunrise Medical, TriRide, Quantum Rehab and Dietz Mobility.

Set within the beautiful Dartmoor landscape, Castle Drogo proved the perfect backdrop for testing equipment on both a grassy demonstration area and a range of scenic trails offering gravel, inclines, and natural terrain.Unique Mobility event in Dartmoor

The event was well attended with visitors travelling from across Devon, Cornwall and Somerset to attend. A number of our attendees explained that experiencing rugged terrain environments had been inaccessible to them for years.

“I haven’t been able to access this sort of terrain since becoming a wheelchair user – it’s fantastic to have that door opened up to me again!” shared one attendee.

Demonstration equipment on display included powerchairs, mobility scooters and powered wheelchair add-ons from Sunrise Medical, Quantum Rehab, TriRide and Dietz Mobility.

Attendees were able to test equipment in a dedicated grassy area and also venture onto some of Castle Drogo’s scenic trails, exploring real-life terrain including gravel paths, slopes, and uneven surfaces — supported by manufacturer representatives and the Unique Mobility team throughout the day.

The event coincided with Carers Week, and thanks to the National Trust’s free entry initiative for carers, many attendees were able to enjoy a more accessible and inclusive day out.

Ian Bellamy, Managing Director at Unique Mobility, commented: “It was a real honour to bring this level of equipment and expertise together in one place, especially in such a fantastic setting. This wasn’t just a product showcase — it was about helping people rediscover freedom, independence, and connection with the outdoors.”
