Gordon Sutherland, CEO of Tunstall Group

UK-based healthcare technology provider Tunstall Healthcare has announced the acquisition of Dutch technology solution provider Secuvita for an undisclosed fee.

The transaction is expected to support Tunstall’s strategic expansion in digital solutions and services and strengthen its position in the Dutch market.

Tunstall now operates in 22 countries globally working with health, care and housing providers to support more than five million end users through its technology and service offerings.

Secuvita’s portfolio of products and services is complementary to Tunstalls as it provides telecare and access control services and technical solutions in the Netherlands and has more than 70,000 users.

Gordon Sutherland, CEO of Tunstall Group, commented: “I’m delighted to announce the acquisition of Secuvita by Tunstall. Patrick Gaasbeek and the team at Secuvita have built a strong company based on similar values to Tunstall; a strong collaborative approach to our customers, high levels of accountability and a drive for continuous innovation and service.

“This approach coupled with the Tunstall Cognitive Care programme, will offer our customers in the Netherlands an excellent opportunity to explore new ways of delivering enhanced health and social care in a highly efficient manner.

“The Tunstall Cognitive Care shifts our business model to heightened levels of ‘proactive care’ where data is integrated from multiple sources and analysed through unique algorithms to notify healthcare professionals of any changes in behaviour of the end user.”

Patrick Gaasbeek, Director and owner of Secuvita, said: “We are pleased to be a part of the Tunstall Group which is renowned for its innovation in the sector, and for producing products and solutions of superior quality.

“Our customers, clients and employees will benefit hugely from the acquisition as we will be able to offer an increased volume of services and specialist solutions to meet health care needs.”

Peter Nicklin, the recently appointed Chairman of the Tanstall Group, said: “Tunstall’s continued international expansion and expansion into new product and service areas will greatly support its continued development as a leading global provider of intelligent medical and social care services.”

In recent years, Tunstall has evolved from an equipment provider to a software solutions and technology company that provides telehealth and telecare managed services. In this time, it has almost doubled the number of users managed by its systems, while increasing its geographic footprint across Europe.

By integrating smart technology with high quality monitoring and support services the firm aims to enable early intervention to improve quality of life and a wider choice of vulnerable people in their care options.

As technology advances, Tunstall claims to have the capability to not just react to events, but to predict and even prevent them, using data-driven insights to make sure those in need have the right levels of support and reassurance.

More recently, the telecare provider announced its involvement and sponsorship of the newly launched ADASS (Association of Directors of Adult Social Services) and TEC Services Association (TSA) joint commission into how technology enabled care (TEC) can support the social care sector.
