Disability Car Sticker Blue Badge

Independent living aids supplier Blue Badge Co has launched a new range of stickers giving ‘disabled people a voice without saying a word’ to tackle confrontations and abuse on roads and in car parks.

The company has unveiled 14 light-hearted and simple designs available in either square or rectangle form that customers can display in their vehicles to highlight to others that they or a passenger have a disability.

According to the company, the campaign follows Blue Badge Co’s market research into the current issues surrounding disabled parking and a lack of consideration & understanding of disabled drivers on the road.

Citing various cases, including wheelchair users unable to get their wheelchairs out of their vehicles because somebody had parked too close to them or disabled people suffering verbal abuse from people who were unable to see their disability, the stickers are meant to provide a means for disabled people to communicate their needs without confrontation, handmade signs and unwanted stress.

The stickers range from those with tongue-in-cheek messages such as ‘I’m only in it for the parking’, ‘if you want my parking space, take my disability as well’ and ‘my other ride is a wheelchair,’ to more on the nose designs including ‘please leave room for my carriage!,’ ‘don’t judge a disability by its visibility,’ and ‘please don’t park too close, I need room for my mobility scooter/wheelchair access.’

“Our #sayitwithasticker campaign aims to give disabled people a voice with no confrontation, giving the opportunity of a personalised message from our array of sticker choices,” says the company.

“With over 14 different messages to choose from finding the message that best fits you should be easy.”

Blue Badge Co’s campaign and stickers come in the wake of the biggest shift to the Blue Badge scheme since the 1970s which came into force on the 5th September, enabling people with non-visible disabilities the right to apply for a blue badge.

The stickers, now available to the trade, may prove to be a popular, small impulse buy that complement retailers’ core product ranges, as well as offering something unique to customers.
