Terry Lifts

British lift manufacturer Terry Lifts has been helping to support the Horse of the Year Show, supplying event management company Grandstand Group with a temporary wheelchair access solution.

The manufacturer has supplied and fitted its Classic Melody 2 vertical platform lift for this event for more than 10 years. The lift is positioned adjacent to the hospitality on the end of the international Andrews Bowen arena at the National Agricultural and Exhibition Centre (NAEC) Stoneleigh.

According to Terry Lifts, the Classic Melody 2 is installed in around four hours and undergoes testing and safety checks by its qualified installation team.

As well as securing the lift to the temporary structure of the main arena, Terry Lifts also provides a free-standing support frame to ensure it has adequate support to safely transport up to 250kg between the two landings. People are aided while the lift is in use.

At the end of the event, the lift is carefully removed and stored at Terry Lifts’ headquarters in Cheshire in preparation for the following year. The lift is then fully tested and installed in the factory prior to delivery.

Commenting on behalf of Grandstand Group, Jane Warmington said: “We have had a long-standing relationship with Terry Lifts for over 10 years.

“With their support we can provide all our customers with access to our hospitality. The lift is only required for the Horse of the Year Show, and I am pleased to say that each year, we have a brilliant experience working with Terry Lifts.”

While no longer part of its product range, Terry Lifts continues to use the Melody 2 for this application because it is easy to install and operate, extremely reliable and most importantly, still complies to current regulations.

Steve Bell, director of installations for Terry Lifts said: “Modern day equivalents that exceed 1000mm in travel require complex assembly onsite or significant cranage. They also need a more structural upper level to secure the lift to, something which isn’t possible in this application. The Classic Melody 2 is the best temporary solution for the Horse of the Year Show.

“We are extremely proud of our long-term relationship with Grandstand Group, and we look forward to working with them for many more years.”

Earlier this year, Terry Lifts reported that it has achieved certification to the latest ISO management system standards, giving its customers added confidence in its products and services, while providing the company with a competitive edge.
