Terry Lifts returns to the Cheshire garden it helped to make more accessible for ITV programme
Specialist lift manufacturer Terry Lifts has stated that it recently returned to the home of care worker, Carl Lamptey and his family, to find out how life has changed since the company’s Melody 3 vertical platform lift was installed as part of an ITV Love Your Garden transformation.
Before the makeover, the garden in Macclesfield was accessed by several steps from a raised patio and largely laid to lawn. He is a full-time carer for children with Down syndrome and epilepsy. Entering the space was a challenge for Carl’s wife, Elle who had been diagnosed with a spinal disability and could no longer walk properly.
Terry Lifts was asked by the Love Your Garden team to provide a solution for its programme, which aired on ITV on Tuesday 28th September 2021. The lift manufacturer installed a Melody 3 vertical platform lift in anthracite black with glass doors and side panels. The lift has proven to be a life-changer for Elle.
“The lift has made a huge difference to my quality of life and had a big impact on family life,” comments Elle. “I can spend time in the garden with my children without having to rely on anyone else. I have my independence back.
“I’m naturally an outdoor person and the lift enables me to use the garden again – to relax, eat and play with the children. I just wish I could have had it sooner, and that they were available to anyone who needs one. It’s an absolute game-changer!”
Travelling a maximum of three metres the Melody 3 vertical platform lift can accommodate virtually any manual or powered wheelchair, and a carer, according to Terry Lifts, and it can be sited internally or externally.
Terry Lifts recently announced its accreditation as a member of Made in Britain, an organisation which brings together British manufacturers, united by a registered collective mark. The supplier was also recently appointed to the Bolton at Home Disabled Facility Adaptations Framework, making it responsible for the supply and installation of through-floor and step lifts across the Greater Manchester borough.
